Welcome To My About Me Page

Hello my name is Jordan Preston and i will be talking about my self, and it will include intrest and personal traits. I am 15 years old. My birthday is June 3 2003. I am the oldset of three brothers. I live in Fairfield and attend Vanden High School. I will be a sophmore this up comming school year. I plan on being more social, because I have been through a lot this school year. I had an concussion for half the school year and fell behind in all my classes. My childhood dream was to play highschool baseball but I wasn't able to join the team beacuse of my head injury. Shortly after that my grandfather died in his sleep and my moms dad also died in a car crash on his birthday. I kept fighting and made it into the smash program.

Personal Mission Statement

Jordan Preston, a young, black, high school student that is athletic and on the track team. Although, he’s between becoming either a lawyer or professional baseball player, he knows that he will achieve one of them eventually. Maybe even both. He will graduate college with a bachelors and a masters degree while being an activist and trying new things along the way. He will prove that he can do anything no matter what anyone says. He will prove to society that young black males can succeed and accomplish any and everything they put their minds to. He will also make his family proud while doing so. Of course, he will face some challenges here and there. These problems may include racism, financial problems, family, and relationships issues. Jordan will overcome everything thrown at him and will accomplish all of his goals one by one. One day, he will become a role model for young black males so they could follow in his footsteps and accomplish whatever they please.

  1. You can never see the truth, if all you hear are the lies
  2. Dont count the days, make the days count
  3. I am pround to be who I am, What you think of me, I dont give a damn; I have family and friends who love me, thats enough for me to be; I am comfortable in my skin, fat or thin, dark or fair, I dont care; I love being ME, and if I may, I'll tell you to keep your judgements at bay. -Anupama

  4. Why I joined the SMASH Program and why i fight to stay!!

I came to the smash program for many of reasons. I applied for the program so i can have a head start for my following years of high school. I wanted to be in this program to help my chances of proving everyone who believes i can't do anything wrong. I don’t want to end up on the next social media post of black boy killed. I wanted to show m brothers that they can do anything when they try hard enough. I applied for the program with an 3.0 and two C’s. I had the hardest time my freshman year. I started the school year with an concussion. My concussion lasted almost half the school year and i was greatly behind. I failed so many times during the school year. Test, homework, not making baseball team, not joining clubs, getting C’s, and the one that hurts me the most, not seeing my grandpa one last time before he died. I will continue to fight to stay in this program no matter what anyone says or trys to do. I don’t speak my mind at school because i don't want to become the kid killed before he makes it out of highschool. Here at the smash program i speak my mind and show who i am. I am a smart black young male that can do any and everything. I will prove everyone wrong and show what i can do. If someone doesn't like me it will not stop me from doing what i will do. There are people at this program who doesn't have my best interest in mind. If they want me to be sent home and make sure i cant return, they will hear what i have to say. If i am kicked out of this program i will be kicked out know i spoke my mind and fought to help better tis program for young black boys todo great things. I am not here to make friends as a first priority. I am not here to let people take my chance. I will fight and overcome them all. At the end of the day there will be someone in the world who will fear me because of my skin, judge me because of my culture, and try to stop me of being who i am. I jordan preston will grow up and become what jordan preston wants to be. I will overcome whatever anyone wants to throw at me. I will show all the black boys that when they have the right reason they can do ANYTHING. This is why i applied for this program.

My Poem

  • I am who I am,
  • you are who you are,
  • I like what I like,
  • you like what you like,
  • I feel how I feel,
  • you feel how you feel,
  • I cant compare my self with you,
  • we are two diffrent people,
  • I see what apears to be you,
  • you see what apears to be me,
  • I strugle, you strugle, we strugle,
  • I am miserable but chearful,
  • I laugh out loud, but frown inside,
  • I a depresed but say im fine,
  • we all go through theses feelings,
  • but there not forever,
  • how we choose to deal with these feelings difine us,
  • not them themselves,
  • I chooses to be happy,
  • DO YOU,
  • I am who I am.
